How do physicians benefit from participating in clinical research?

Physicians who work with Pacifica on a clinical research team are able to generate an additional revenue stream, be on the cutting edge of new treatments and medical technologies, earn prestige within the research community, and contribute to the future of medicine. All of this is done without having to leave their own private practice, and with the knowledge and support of Pacifica’s staff.

Take part in potential life-saving medical discoveries and breakthroughs.

When you partner with Pacifica you have the opportunity to:

  • Gain early access to new therapies.

Pacifica bridges the gap between clinical research and physicians.

  • Pacifica Clinical Research Group facilitates clinical research as part of your medical practice, even if you’re new to research.

  • We bring the know-how, the team, and the operational support so that Principal Investigators (PIs) can continue what they do best, which is to care for their patients, and grow their practice and livelihood.

  • Although the PI is ultimately responsible for the overall conduct of a study, a large portion of the work that goes into running a clinical trial may be delegated to a properly-trained study coordinator and other research staff with PI oversight of these duties.

  • The PI oversees the studies to ensure that GCP guidelines are met and that the research protocol is being followed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

    • The amount of time a PI may need to spend on each study is dependent on a number of factors, including the complexity of the clinical trial, the number of patients enrolled at the site, and how many visits are scheduled to occur throughout the study. With Pacifica’s trained clinical researchers, much of the “heavy lifting” required during the study may be delegated to staff members, and overseen by the PI, ultimately freeing up more time in your busy schedule.

    • PIs focus on what physicians do best - seeing and treating patients, lab reviews, etc. with some oversight duties.

    • When run successfully, PIs enjoy many financial benefits, which can be increased with each study involved.

    • On average, PIs are able to be paid anywhere from 200-300% of typical Medicare patient reimbursements for visits.

    • Pacifica will negotiate the best possible PI reimbursement with our expert clinical trial contracts/budget professional.

    • Contrary to some myths out there, there is very little additional risk involved for physicians working on clinical trials as long as they follow the applicable regulations, good clinical practice (GCP) standards, and the research protocol.

    • Additional clinical trial malpractice insurance options are available for further protection.

    • PIs are indemnified by pharmaceutical companies, and sign indemnification agreements prior to the study starting.
